Dyno Tuning

A “Dyno,” short for “Dynamometer,” is a device used to measure a specific power output of an engine or vehicle. We have a Mustang AWD-500 Chassis Dyno that we use for testing purposes and creating performance tunes for most BMW models. It is important to have a controlled environment when creating performance tunes to ensure we collect consistent data run after run. A Dyno is also used for diagnostic testing on a vehicle that we may or may not be able to drive on the street. Our Mustang Dyno is equipped with an Eddy Current Brake, so we can add load to the vehicle as if you were going up a hill. This is perfect for vehicles that may have an issue under certain driving conditions. So if you want to see how much horsepower and torque your car creates, we can measure that for you!

Full time AWD (All Wheel Drive) vehicles are designed to provide maximum performance regardless of road conditions. In cases where traction is less than ideal, a vehicle may be designed to improve stability and traction at the expense of power. This means adding torque to a spinning wheel or retarding of timing. In order to properly test an AWD vehicle for peak performance, an AWD chassis dynamometer must be able to simulate ideal road-load conditions to the vehicle. This approach allows the vehicle to be evaluated under “optimum” operational conditions; whereby torque is distributed to the vehicle’s tires in the same manner that would normally occur when a vehicle has equal traction at all four drive wheels, and is therefore operating at peak efficiency.

To achieve this, Mustang’s AWD-500 Series incorporates an internal drive system that synchronizes the front and back rollers to simulate a flat, dry road condition. Synchronization, or linkage, ensures that the front and rear rollers are always spinning at precisely the same road speed. This process eliminates the possibility of activating a vehicle’s traction control system and also insures that a vehicle’s torque management system is operating under the assumption that the vehicle is not skidding, turning or slipping.

ECU Tuning

Engine tuning has come a long way in the past 20-30 years. Modern Engine Control Units (ECU) are some of the most powerful processors on the market. These processors can perform millions of calculations per second ensuring your engine is running at the desired level of performance. Currently, we have the ability to enhance that engine performance with tuning we’ve developed for your car.

Through hundreds of hours of extensive research on many platforms, with different levels of upgrades and performance needs, we can provide you with an enhanced driving experience with just a simple upgrade to your vehicles ECU. Our in house Mustang Dyno provides us with the tool necessary to develop and test these tunes on both our own racing vehicles as well as daily driven customer vehicles.

Whereas automotive manufactures have to work within a tight and restrictive window when it comes to tuning the vehicle’s ECU, we have been able to unlock the true capabilities of your vehicle so it performs better than it ever would from the factory. We have been providing tuning solutions for over 10 years now and have had many satisfied customers. While we are not currently offering “Custom” tunes, we have quite a selection of proven tunes that impreove the performance of may BMW models.

Occasionally when tuning a car, other issues can arise, that you may not have at a stock horsepower level. Some of those issues may be with spark plugs, coil packs, fuel injectors, engine sensors, charge pipes on turbocharged cars, and potentially more. Before applying a tune to your car, we make recommendations and ask important questions to prevent these problems from arising. Fortunately, we have a full service and repair facility that can take care of any issues your vehicle may have. That’s what makes us the best in the business when it comes to BMW Tuning and repair work!

Our style of engine tuning does not require the use of “piggy back” modules that are prone to failure and hardware issues. We go into the ECU and re-write the data that it was originally delivered from the factory with. Our tunes are designed to work with all factory features and equipment, and even sometimes add options that otherwise would not have come with the vehicle from the factory!
